The Echelon story
Built around preventing problems—not waiting for them
In 2002, Billy Barnhart saw businesses caught in a reactive cycle: technology was often ignored until a failure interrupted the workday. He founded Echelon around a more useful idea—understand the environment, maintain it deliberately and address warning signs before they become larger disruptions.
That approach began with business IT and grew with the systems our clients depend on. Today, our work can extend from users, cloud services and cybersecurity to the network, cabling, cameras, controlled doors and A/V systems inside the same organization.
Echelon is founded
Proactive business technology support becomes the foundation of the company.
Support expands with the environment
Networking, cybersecurity and cloud management become inseparable from daily IT operations.
One coordinated technology team
IT and connected building systems can be planned with fewer gaps between vendors and responsibilities.
Why the range matters
The systems are already connected. The planning should be too.
A camera depends on cabling and the network. A controlled door can involve a reader, lock, camera and identity policy. A meeting room can depend on user accounts, devices and Wi-Fi. We look across those boundaries instead of treating every symptom as someone else’s problem.
Users, devices, cloud services, networks, AI implementation and daily support.
CybersecurityIdentity, email, endpoints, applications, recovery and insurance readiness.
Structured CablingPathways, racks, network drops, testing, labeling and documentation.
Security CamerasCommercial video, remote viewing, event search and coordinated camera infrastructure.
Access ControlControlled doors and gates, credentials, entry policies and compatible video integrations.
Audio VisualBusiness collaboration, displays, audio, smart-home experiences and control.

How we work
Values are useful when clients can see them in the work
Instead of scoring ourselves with progress bars, we define the behaviors our clients and teammates should be able to expect.
Communicate clearly
Explain the issue, options, responsibilities and next step in language the people making the decision can use.
Own the outcome
Follow the work across technical boundaries and make accountability visible instead of hiding behind handoffs.
Plan beyond installation
Consider daily operation, documentation, support and future change before a system is handed over.
Keep improving
Use what we learn from support, projects and new technology to refine how the next decision is made.

Our mission
Make technology serve the people and organization using it
Our mission is to create secure, understandable and dependable technology environments for businesses and homes. That means recommending what fits, integrating it carefully and remaining available when the environment changes.
Where we work
Built in Arizona. Able to reach farther.
Some technology needs a technician at the building. Other work can be handled securely from anywhere. We define the right service model before the work begins.
Phoenix metro · Local and on site
Regular on-site work for managed IT, cabling, cameras, access control and A/V throughout the Valley.
Across Arizona · Planned projects
Site-based projects and scheduled service beyond the metro when scope, travel and support expectations are defined.
Beyond Arizona · Remote services
Managed IT and cybersecurity can extend nationwide when the work and service model do not require a local technician.
Frequently asked questions
A few things to know about Echelon
How long has Echelon Technologies been in business?
Billy Barnhart founded Echelon Technologies in Arizona in 2002. The company began with a proactive approach to business IT and expanded as the systems clients rely on became more connected.
What kinds of organizations does Echelon support?
We primarily support commercial organizations that need dependable technology but may not want to build every specialty internally. The right service can range from a defined installation project to ongoing managed support.
Do you handle projects as well as ongoing support?
Yes. Some engagements are focused projects such as structured cabling, cameras, access control or A/V. Others include recurring managed IT, cybersecurity, monitoring and user support. Responsibilities and support expectations are defined before work begins.
Do you work outside the Phoenix area?
Yes. We perform on-site work throughout the Phoenix metro and can support projects elsewhere in Arizona. Remote IT and cybersecurity services can extend beyond Arizona when the service and support requirements are a good fit.
Can Echelon coordinate several technology services in one project?
Yes. That is one of the practical reasons for our range of expertise. When a project crosses IT, networking, cabling, security or A/V, we can identify the dependencies, define responsibility and coordinate the approved work as one plan.
